What is on in Hogsback over Easter?

The Village will once again be filled with visitors who need to get out of town and de-stress in our paradise location. We will update this post with specials and activities to keep you busy over the Easter weekend.

Apart from the normal activities that Hogsback is famous for, like hiking, biking and chilling, we also have a few happenings organised just for this special Easter weekend.

Easter Services

Our little chapel, St Patrick on the Hill, will be offering two services this weekend. The Easter Friday Crucifixion service at noon midday will be a quiet service with readings, music and reflection on what happened 2,000 years ago, which changed the world forever!

Under the Oaks Market

This market has grown to one of our favourite markets where all the locals share their fresh farm goods, breads, jams, locally harvested honey, woodwork, clothes and much much more! Read More: undertheoaksmarket.hogsback.info

Adventures

For the more adventurous we offer some amazing adrenaline pumping activities. All you need to do is to stop off at the Hogsback Adventure Centre and pick from an array of heart racing adventures. Read More: adventures.hogsback.info

Obstacle course

Hobbiton is an adventure centre offering wall climbing, zip wire, trapeze, abseiling and more. Make sure that you book your adrenaline fix with Xolini at 081008 9443.

Horse riding excursions

Experiencing Hogsback on horseback is the ultimate way to get to see secret sacred places and views in Hogsback not otherwise accessible to visitors.

This is ideal if you are a beginner as they specialize in making sure that you are comfortable on their horses. They will have outrides at the following times:

  • Saturday 9am (R380 per person)
  • Saturday 3pm (R380 per person)
  • Sunday 9h30am (R380 per person)

Horses for healing also have a camping and morning ride option for Friday night. Camp under the stars with a hearty potjie, wake up to a delicious camp fire breakfast and go for an exhilarating  morning ride. Cost R 999 per outing per person  (bring your own camping gear)

Easter Bowls

The bowling club meet on Saturday afternoon at 2h30 for a jovial round of bowls and banter. They have spare bowls available if you do not have any. The cost is R50 for non members and there is no specific dress code. Come as you are, but please wear shoes that wont damage the greens.

Dining experiences

Touraco Table will be open this weekend for dinners on Friday and Saturday evening as well as Sunday Lunch. Booking essential at this quaint dinery where French chef Laurent will make sure that you have an exceptional meal

Music

On Sunday afternoon you can go and chill with some mellow music and good wholesome food at the Tasting room.

Hiking, walking and nature

Our waterfalls and forests are waiting to welcome you. Our volunteer trail maintenance group have been working hard to clear and fix our walking trails and add bright markers to make sure that you do not get lost.

We ask that our visitors respect our forests , waterfalls and nature areas. Please do not leave rubbish around and pick up everything that can damage our pristine forests!! Leave only footsteps! To get a walking trail map, pick one up at the Woltree Shop and don’t forget to make a donation towards trail maintenance!

Accommodation

To really experience Hogsback, you will need more than a daytrip!! Long weekends are notoriously fully booked way in advance, but you may be lucky and get a cancellation. To save you from phoning all 56 establishments in vain, complete the accommodation request from that will go out to everybody. Those who still have space available, will get back to you with pricing. Just a note: Very few places will accept a one night booking over a long weekend. So make sure you stay for a few nights if you want to secure a booking!
