SUMMARY:Big Birding Day – Count the Parrots!
DESCRIPTION:\nHelp us count Cape Parrots.\n\n\nOur 2024 annual Cape Parrot Big Birding Day takes place on Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning, on the 20th and 21st of April, in Hogsback and Limpopo this year. The count takes place for three hours before sunset on the Saturday afternoon/evening and for three hours after sunrise on the Sunday morning. The Cape Parrot count for the rest of South Africa (KZN and Eastern EC) will take place on the 4th and 5th of May. This is an annual event to count the entire Cape Parrot population. Last year, we counted 1,952 Cape Parrots, and we’re hoping to see that their numbers are continuing to rise gradually.\n\n\n
