Madonna & Child
Madonna and Child is commonly interpreted in 3 ways:
Waterfall runs down a flat cliff face into a forest valley. There are pebbles and rocks at the base where visitors can sit, with many places to explore at the base of the waterfall.
The pool is shallow and mainly used for wading or cooling off, not deep enough for swimming.
☘️Please take all litter with you. The area is maintained by local efforts and depends on visitors keeping it clean.☘️
Routes
Shortest route: Steep descent from Wolfridge Road directly to the base. Still a challenging yet beautiful hike, only for the sure-footed.
Longer route: From the Big Tree / Away with the Fairies area, through forest paths that link with other waterfalls such as Swallow Tail and Bridal Veil Falls.
The descent is about 460 metres into the valley and includes steps and handrails in some sections. The path can be slippery after rain.
Abseiling
Abseiling is offered from the top of the waterfall by Hogsback Adventures. The descent is breathtaking and thrilling as you abseil next to the waterfall and see all the life growing on her face. It must be booked in advance and is weather dependent.
Note: some trails in Hogsback require permits
