The Cape Parrot Project
The Cape Parrot Project works to protect South Africa’s endemic Cape parrot and the indigenous forests on which it depends. Based in Hogsback at the southern end of the bird’s range, the project combines scientific research, community engagement and forest restoration.
Research helps build understanding of parrot movements, behaviour, breeding sites and disease. Community programmes work with residents, schools, landowners and government, while restoration efforts remove invasive plants, propagate indigenous trees and rebuild forest habitat and food sources.
The nursery and operational areas are not general visitor attractions. People interested in supporting or learning more about the project should use its official information and contact channels.
