The Edge Mountain Retreat

The Edge Mountain Retreat in Hogsback is surrounded by cliffs, dramatic views and indigenous forest – complementing the pristine, natural environment which Hogsback offers. It  offers a range of accommodation options for individuals, families and groups, including self-catering cottages (some perched on the edge of the cliff) and bed-and-breakfast rooms, all set in 15 acres of beautiful cool climate gardens. We offer our guests space, quiet and restfulness. All our facilities are furnished with character and in a style of understated quality.

From the edge of the cliff, which runs along the side of the property, there are spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and a deep gorge with beautiful, unspoilt indigenous Afromontane forest, often with a show of fascinating swirling mists and cloud formations.

Our Restaurant at The Edge offers good food (locally grown organic when possible) and tea-time treats, and our Vula Vista Venue is a special space for wedding receptions, conferences, workshops and yoga retreats.

Our Chartres design Labyrinth in our garden is definitely worth exploring and a landmark in Hogsback.

En-Suite Garden Rooms (2 sleepers)

Our garden rooms are ideal for overnight or short stays. We have 10 en-suite rooms in a beautiful garden setting, each with its own entrance. Each room has a shower, coffee station and heater. A couple of units have televisions and a small fridge too. Nine of the ten rooms have double beds and one has two single beds.

Rates includes breakfast at our lovely restaurant close by.

Self Catering Cottages

There are 20 lovely self-catering cottages in a beautiful 15 acre garden. We have five cliff side cottages with spectacular views of surrounding mountains and a deep gorge with pristine indigenous African Montane forest, the rest of the cottages are situated in a quiet, lovely garden setting. Many days you can enjoy fascinating swirling mists and cloud formations.
