It is with the deepest regret and sorrow that we must inform the Hogsback community of the deaths of two residents on their property sometime between late Saturday 1 October and the early morning of 3 October 2022. There appears to have been a break-in and robbery during which they were attacked and killed.
This is a terrible shock to us all and we ask that you keep their families, friends and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers. Our deepest condolences to them and to our Hogsback community.
Currently, the investigation is in the hands of SAPS. As soon as further information is made available to the CPF, we will inform the community of any new details. In the meantime, we ask very respectfully that speculation and rumour not be entertained by anyone.
We apologise that we were unable to inform the community immediately as both residents’ next of kin needed to be traced and contacted first. At this stage, this has not yet happened. We appreciate your understanding, patience and sensitivity at this most painful and difficult time for everyone.
We are also aware that identifying information was given to the media in advance of informing the family which is completely contradictory to any standard norms of protocol or decency. The CPF will be following this up with SAPS.
Please be vigilant, keep yourselves secure and look out for your neighbours.
The CPF will be calling a community meeting as soon as possible to discuss crime and security in Hogsback.
