Spring is in full swing in our our village and gardens with abundant colours! You are in for a treat when visiting our open gardens. We also have a lot on to make your time here special.
If you haven’t planned Hogsback Open garden trip yet – get organizing! 🌸🌷😉🤩. It is a very do-able day trip from East London, Queenstown and surrounding areas. Or make sure that you book your accommodation asap. We have stunning accommodation options.
Starting from Friday 22nd Oct going through to Sunday 14th Nov we will be having Open Gardens every Thursday to Sunday from 9am – 5pm
We have 8 gorgeous Gardens and 4 lovely Plant Nurseries to see every weekend. Pictured above is the spectacular Mons Garden – Eastern Cape’s most well stocked Rose Nursery, its even designed to look like a rose! 🌹🌹🌹 Seedling and plants sales will be available from Mons Garden throughout the open garden season and festival, so take a bit of colour and wonder back home with you!
We have 2 main Celebration weekends planned:
🌸 29th – 31st Oct – best for viewing Azaleas (see programme)
🌸 12th- 14th Nov – best for viewing Roses & Rhodi’s (see programme)
Costs and Open garden tickets
Open Garden Tickets cost R100 per person, which allow access to all 8 gardens.
These can be purchased on the day at the Edge Mountain Retreat Reception, or online ahead of time at www.quicket.co.za (search for Hogsback Open Gardens 2021). Please note that even if you do buy your tickets online, you will still need to get your wristbands in person from the Edge Mountain Retreat Reception.

Friday 29 October:
6.30 pm. Sit down tasting of Ken Forrester wines presented by brand ambassador Louw Strydom.

Saturday 30 October:
Morning market in the Tin Shed
Wine fair at The Edge.
Delicious wines to taste from various Cape Wine Estates. Craft market and food stalls. Beautiful gardens and stunning views.
R140 per person includes a bottle of Ken Forrester Petite wine, a crystal wine glass and wine tasting.
Duration: 12 pm to 3 pm.
Venue: Vula Vista Room @ The Edge Mountain Retreat.
Potjie competition. Judging 1pm. Plates served from 1.30 to 2pm. R100. In marquee on lawn in front of Vula Vista room.
Sunday 31 October:
10.30 am. Sit down formal tasting of 4 superb Simonsig bubblies paired with delicious homemade cream scones with Hogsback berry jam.

Rose Celebration weekend at The Edge Mountain Retreat 12 – 14 November 2021
Friday 12 November
5.30pm. Night Market in the Courtyard and Tin Shed.
6.30pm. A sit down La Bri wine and chocolate pairing. 3 wines and 3 Chocolates.
Duration approximately one hour.
Venue: Vula Vista room.
R175 per person include a bottle of premium La Bri red wine and the pairing.

Saturday 13 November
9am to 3pm. Craft market and food stalls at The Edge.
12pm to 3pm. Wine fair with estates from the Western Cape (approximately 8 estates).

R140 per person includes 3 cans of Spier wines (Sauvignon blanc, Rosé and Merlot), a crystal wine glass and the wine tasting.
Tickets available at the door.
Cheese boards available to purchase.
