The Village will once again be filled to the brim with visitors who need to get out of town and de-stress in our paradise location. We will update this post with specials and activities to keep you busy over Heritage weekend.

Apart from the normal activities that Hogsback is famous for, like hiking, biking and chilling, we also have a few activities and adventures for you to participate in.

Chill after a strenuous hike

Bowls

The bowling club meet on Saturday afternoon at 1h45 for a jovial round of bowls and banter. They have spare bowls available if you do not have any. The cost is R50 for non members and there is no specific dress code. Come as you are, but please wear shoes that wont damage the greens.

Heritage Day special at Happy Hogs

Hogsback is known as a foodie destination, so make sure that you book beforehand as their are limited space available at some of the eateries. To see all your food options, see here: eat.hogsback.info

Happy Hogs will be having a taste of Africa celebrating Heritage Day Saturday evening from 5.3/6 pm.

They will be offering a special selection of potjies for R149

  • Lamb and Umfino.. Oxtail.
  • White Ngqusho. Beef Short Ribs and Dombolo.
  • Beef Tongue. accompanied by soft flatbread or Rustic brownbread.

Hiking, walking and nature

Our waterfalls and forests are waiting to welcome you. Our volunteer trail maintenance group have been working hard to clear and fix our walking trails and add bright markers to make sure that you do not get lost.

We ask that our visitors respect our forests , waterfalls and nature areas. Please do not leave rubbish around and pick up everything that can damage our pristine forests!! Leave only footsteps! To get a walking trail map, pick one up at the Woltree Shop and don’t forget to make a donation towards trail maintenance!

Sunday Services

Our little chapel, St Patrick on the Hill, will be offering a morning service as per usual at the chapel. See you there at 10am.

Accommodation

To really experience Hogsback, you will need more than a daytrip!! Long weekends are notoriously fully booked way in advance, but you may be lucky and get a cancellation. To save you from phoning all 58 establishments in vain, complete the accommodation request form that will go out to everybody. Those who still have space available, will get back to you with pricing. Just a note: Very few places will accept a one night booking over a long weekend. So make sure you stay for a few nights if you want to secure a booking!
